## About

AfterLid is a Mac app that prevents your computer from sleeping during long-running tasks like downloads, builds, renders and backups, while you check its status from your phone. Close the lid and your work continues, guarded by battery, thermal and time limits that automatically stop the session if conditions become unsafe.

The app offers three power states. Sleepy is normal battery-saving sleep. Awake keeps the Mac and display on while the lid is open, with the option to turn the display off manually while work continues. Always On, the featured mode, keeps your Mac running with the lid closed and display off, bounded by a 30 percent battery floor, thermal monitoring, an 8-hour session limit and a heartbeat check.

AfterLid runs entirely on your Mac and syncs with a free iPhone companion app so you can monitor battery level, thermal state and remaining session time from anywhere. The app is built for developers, video editors, data teams and anyone running local servers, AI agents or scheduled maintenance tasks that need uninterrupted time.

AfterLid combines local power management with remote monitoring through an iPhone app. It deliberately limits Always On sessions with battery, heat and time boundaries rather than keeping your Mac awake indefinitely, returning it to normal sleep when limits are reached.

Problem
Long-running tasks on your Mac get interrupted when the lid closes or the computer sleeps, halting downloads, builds, renders and backups mid-process.

Solution
AfterLid keeps your Mac awake during these tasks with safety guardrails, and lets you monitor progress from your iPhone so you know when work is done.
