## About

Everywhere is a file search tool for Mac that indexes every file on your computer, including documents, photos, downloads, mail attachments, and files on unplugged external drives. Start typing from anywhere and results appear before you finish, searching across six million files in milliseconds. The app searches where Spotlight cannot, finding attachments inside Mail, originals in your Photos library, and files on disconnected drives.

The search works by keeping all filenames in a single list held in memory rather than using a database. Each keystroke narrows results from the previous search instead of starting over, so the second letter searches only hundreds of files instead of millions. The app catalogs six million files in 31 seconds and responds to the first keystroke in 10 milliseconds, with each subsequent letter taking 2 milliseconds.

Everywhere uses all processor cores on your Mac to sweep through filenames. It stores results in 308 MB by computing full file paths only for the handful of results you see on screen, never writing folder names twice. You can search by plain typing for names, or use syntax to narrow results when you need to be specific.

Everywhere searches inside Mail attachments and sealed Photos libraries where Spotlight cannot look. It finds files on unplugged external drives that Spotlight has forgotten. Results appear in 10 milliseconds on the first keystroke, with each letter after taking 2 milliseconds, measured on a Mac with six million files.

Problem
Spotlight misses files inside Mail attachments and Photos libraries, and forgets about files on unplugged external drives. Searches are slow and incomplete.

Solution
Everywhere indexes all files including those Spotlight skips, remembers disconnected drives, and searches across six million files in milliseconds using a memory-resident list and multi-core processing.
