## About

RainbowSay is a macOS app that listens to audio from your favorite shows and pauses at the end of each sentence to show you a translation, vocabulary list and grammar notes. It works with any video player or podcast app, capturing audio only and never recording your screen. The app displays real dialogue at natural pace, with word-by-word highlights and answers to grammar questions in a chat panel.

You can use RainbowSay for three types of practice: Listening (translated sentences), Speaking (record yourself and get feedback), and Subtitles (live translations overlaid on video). Each plan includes a monthly allowance that you can spend on any mix of these three features. The free plan gives you a one-time starter credit with no card required.

The app supports 14 languages including Korean, Japanese, Spanish, French, German, Chinese, Russian, Portuguese, Hindi, Vietnamese, Indonesian and Italian. Study history is saved locally on your Mac. Windows and Linux versions are planned.

RainbowSay pauses videos and podcasts at sentence boundaries to show translations, vocabulary and grammar explanations in real time, rather than requiring you to manually look things up or work through pre-made lessons. It listens to audio only, never your screen, and processes each sentence through an AI model while keeping native speakers' natural pace and rhythm. You can mix three session types within a single monthly allowance: Listening for translations, Speaking for practice, and Subtitles for live captions across multiple languages at once.

Problem
Textbook language lessons use artificial dialogues that don't sound like real speech. Learners miss the natural pace, mumbling, jokes and interruptions that make authentic media engaging.

Solution
RainbowSay lets you learn from your favorite shows and podcasts at their real pace. AI unpacks each sentence with translation, vocabulary and grammar while native speakers set the rhythm.
