## About

Rocksday is a free daily guessing game where you identify a mystery rock, mineral or gem from a zoomed-in photo in six guesses. Each wrong guess zooms the photo out, sharpens it and unlocks a clue about type, color, hardness, crystal structure and where it's found. A table compares your guess with the answer, showing whether the specimen is harder or softer on the Mohs scale.

The game includes hard mode, which keeps the photo zoomed in longer and unlocks clues more slowly. You can play past puzzles in the archive, and themed practice sets called Flocks let you try different categories without affecting your daily streak.

Beyond the daily puzzle, Rocksday has a library of 374 specimens with practical identification tips and 610 comparisons of commonly confused rocks and minerals. An identifier tool helps you narrow down unknown specimens using simple tests you can do at home. All photos come from Wikimedia Commons and are credited on the site.

Rocksday combines a daily guessing game with a practical reference library focused on specimens you're likely to find or buy. The game teaches identification through progressive photo clarity and clues rather than text hints, and the library includes side-by-side comparisons of commonly confused specimens.

Problem
Identifying rocks and minerals from photos is difficult without knowing what features to look for or how to distinguish similar specimens.

Solution
Rocksday teaches identification through a daily puzzle that reveals clues progressively, plus a library with practical tips and direct comparisons of specimens people often mix up.
