Guidelines
What’s New Today publishes first and checks after. These guidelines say what we expect from makers and voters, what we do not list, and what happens when a rule is broken.
Last updated · In effect from 25 October 2026. The binding rules are in the Terms

The short version
- Use one account, under your own name or a consistent handle.
- Describe your product honestly, in your own words.
- Vote only for products you are not involved in. Never trade votes.
- Some products we do not list or advertise, whatever is paid.
- Breaking a rule has a clear, stepped consequence, and you can appeal once.
This summary helps you read the page. The numbered sections below are what applies.
1.Be who you are
Use your real name or a handle you use consistently. Keep one account. Do not use another person’s account, and do not create extra accounts to vote, list or report.
Makers say they are makers. If you built, work for or are paid to promote a product, say so when you talk about it here.
2.List honestly
- Describe what the product does today, in your own words. Do not copy your homepage.
- State pricing as it is on your site. Do not claim “best”, “#1” or “top” in a tagline.
- Use screenshots of your own product.
- Say whether a description was written by a person or is AI-assisted and edited by a person, and check it is accurate before you submit.
- List a product once. A domain that is already listed is blocked; claim it instead if it is yours.
- Free listings keep the What’s New Today badge on the product’s site. If a daily check finds it missing, the link becomes nofollow until it is back. How the badge check works
Listings publish right after automated checks. Publishing is not an endorsement, and it does not mean an editor has looked yet.
3.Votes
Vote for products you find useful and are not involved in. Do not ask for votes in exchange for anything, join voting groups, trade votes or use bots. You may tell your audience you launched here and link to your page.
Votes are a small, capped part of rank. The binding rules are in the Terms and the weights are on How we rank.
4.Reporting a problem
Every product page has a “Report this listing” link. Use it for a dead or misleading listing, copied text, a product we do not list, vote or click manipulation, or a conflict of interest we did not label. Say which page and what you saw.
Reports go to the editors, who can mark a listing reviewed, hold it or unpublish it. The listing stays up while we look. We do not publish who reported.
5.What we do not list
We do not list, and do not accept advertising for:
- Sexual or adult content and services.
- Gambling, betting, lotteries, prediction markets with real money, and casino tooling.
- Crypto token sales, memecoins, yield or staking products, and anything whose main purpose is buying or trading tokens. Developer tooling for blockchains is allowed if it sells no token.
- Weapons, ammunition and weapon accessories.
- Products that need a licence we cannot check: lending, payments, insurance, investment advice or brokerage, prescription medicine or telehealth prescribing, legal representation.
- Tools whose main use is deception or abuse: fake reviews, vote or follower selling, account takeover, scraping personal data for resale, stalkerware, bypassing paywalls or DRM.
- Counterfeit, cracked or plagiarised software, and listings that misstate who made the product.
Borderline cases are decided by our editor. The decision and the reason go to the maker, who can appeal once.
Words that hold a listing for an editor
A submission that contains any of these words or phrases is held instead of published, and an editor decides. Holding a listing is not a verdict; most held listings are fine.
- Adult content
- escort, adult content, porn
- Gambling
- casino, gambling, betting
- Trading signals and lending
- crypto signals, pump and dump, forex signals, payday loan
- Regulated goods
- steroids, cannabis, vape, firearm
- Counterfeits and stolen goods
- replica, counterfeit, hacked accounts, carding
- Manipulation for sale
- buy followers, buy backlinks, pbn, essay mill, fake reviews
6.When rules are broken
We start at the lowest step that fits. Vote or click manipulation and prohibited products can skip steps.
- 1WarningWe say which rule was broken and what to change.
- 2Vote removalThe affected votes leave the count.
- 3Listing removalThe listing is unpublished until it is fixed.
- 4Account banVotes are voided and new listings are blocked.
- 5Domain banThe product’s domain cannot be listed again.
For repeated or paid manipulation we may say so on the product page.
7.Appeals
When we hold, unpublish or ban, we tell you which rule and why. You can fix the problem and ask again, or appeal once from your dashboard. One person reads each appeal and you get a written answer. A domain ban for manipulation is final.
