About

Inkling is a note-taking app for Mac that sits in your menu bar notch, designed to capture thoughts without interrupting your workflow. Press Option-N to open it from anywhere, jot down an idea, and press Command-Return to save it. Your notes stay on your Mac and sync across your devices through iCloud if you choose.

You can format notes with headings, checkboxes, links, highlights, quotes, code blocks, and tables. Start from templates like daily scratchpads, meeting notes, or project plans. Pin important notes, search by phrase or tag, and view previous versions of notes. Choose from three personality modes: Lively, Calm, or Still.

All notes are stored locally on your Mac and work offline. You can export notes as Markdown, rich text, or PDF. The app includes daily local backups. After the 24-hour trial, your notes remain readable and searchable even without a licence; you need to purchase to edit and write new notes.

Inkling runs in your Mac's notch rather than as a separate window, keeping it always visible but minimal. Notes stay entirely on your Mac with no account required and no analytics tracking. It's a one-time purchase rather than a subscription, and your notes remain accessible even after the trial ends.

Problem: Quick thoughts get lost between notifications, calendar reminders and other interruptions. Finding space to capture ideas without leaving your current task is difficult.
Solution: Inkling sits in your notch and opens instantly with a keyboard shortcut. Save ideas in seconds, then return to what you were doing. Your notes stay on your Mac and are always searchable.
