Methodology
- Source: every approved listing on What’s New Today. These are the same rows as the category and pricing lists.
- Who enters the data: makers fill in their own listings. Other listings are imported from public launch feeds, and an AI writer reads the product’s site to fill in pricing, platforms and tags. An import may be older than its date here, so “new” means listed here, not first released.
- Who is missing: this is a sample of tools launched in public, not of all software. Enterprise and sales-led products are rare in it.
- Excluded: drafts, rejected listings and discontinued products.
- Prices: the cheapest paid plan as written. Only prices stated per month in US dollars count; yearly, one-time and other currencies are left out, not converted.
- Thin data: a finding with fewer than 20 rows behind it is dropped. A gap under 2 percentage points reads as about the same.
- Refresh and rounding: recomputed every hour, so numbers move as listings change. Shares are rounded to the nearest whole percent and may not add up to exactly 100%.
